"A 200-meter-long artwork spanning the 29 railway tracks that separate the Amédée Saint-Germain and Armagnac districts, the bridge is built to the south of the Bordeaux Saint-Jean station. It stands in the heart of a neighborhood deeply connected to its railway history. In 1855, a temporary station was built opposite Cours Saint-Jean to accommodate trains from the Bordeaux-Langon line. The Bordeaux Saint-Jean station that replaced it, constructed under the guidance of project manager Marius Toudoire in 1899, was inaugurated at a time when the significant development of railways necessitated a larger station. The project was part of a competition open to all sectors of the ZAC. Designed by the Marc Mimram Architecture and Engineering team, and built by Bouygues Construction and the Victor Buyck Steel Construction group, the bridge was inaugurated following a colossal construction effort. This viaduct, an integral part of the Bordeaux Euratlantique National Interest Operation development program, now mitigates the physical boundary created by the railway tracks."
