The structure is classic in form—an arch with a 105-meter span—but what is new is the way the footbridge can be used, with access to different levels within the structure, linking the upper and lower quays of the Seine and making this piece of engineering a genuine public space, both because of the multiple ways it can be crossed and its spaciousness with a balcony opening on to a panorama of the river and the city. Here, the direction of forces meets the direction taken by the pedestrian. Opening up between the ground and the deck is a window giving onto the sky.
